Day # 54 Shopping

This morning I got up at 5am and got ready to walk down to the market with my host mom. She showed me where the museum is, I will be their on wednesday shadowing one of the PCV that work their. Are first stop was the meat market. Their was meat hanging all over the place and some of the biggest pig legs I have ever seen. They have men with machetes that cut all of the meat up for you right their, I will not be eating a lot  of meat I can tell you that right now, its expensive in the stores and I don't like to watch, smell and get splattered with animal parts, nooo thank you. We then went to the fish market, they have stands with different fish in each one, they also clean and cut each one for you. They have some BIG fish their they call them dolphin although it is not a dolphin. It was fun to see all of the people selling on the side of the street. I thought it was interesting some of the men would catch crabs and tie them together, and then they would hang up the balls of crabs so people could pick the ones that they wanted. I have never seen that before.I will take a pick when I get my camera and I go to the market again. Today I hung out with my host brother whiel I was washing my cloths. He is 25 and working on his studies so that he can move to the US to become an engineer. We talked about all kinds of things are hobbies, music school it was grate to get to know him better. He works in a machine shop and goes to school in the evenings so I don't see him that often. Any ways when my host mother came home she made us chicken rotie, it is a very popular dish here. Basically  its kind of like a curry stew with any meat that you want and its covered in a tortilla kind of thing. Its a really yummy dish. After that we went into Grand Anse, to go shopping we mainly looked around and the real shopping will be on Monday after I get out of school when my host father can drive us around. So I thought of something fun and interesting about Grenada. So most people either walk, ride the buss (mini van), or have a car. So tonight when we got on the buss they had put in a florescent blue light and also installed a sound system. I will tell you know that the busses are competitive and try to decorate their busses. They normally have big decals on the front and back so you know who is driving the buss. When I say big I mean big to I will try and get a picture one for you all to see. They also play loud local music that consists of reggae, soca, or hip hop and R&B. Not all of the busses but most here are like that. So now I am going to watch and hopefully learn how to make bread from scratch :) my host mother makes good bread. Good night all I will talk to you tomorrow.
