This is my second Sunday here in Grenada, I decided not to
go to church and go with my host father instead around the island a bit more.
He took me to St. George’s fort. It was small but beautiful; again a lot of the
structure was badly damaged from a hurricane about 7 years ago. You will find a
lot buildings and homes that have been destroyed and abandoned around the
island. I was asked to go and introduce myself to some of the local police
officers and I don’t know if I have told you or not but my host father is a
retired police sergeant, so this morning I asked him if he could take me and
introduce me to some of his fellow police officers. He took me to three, one in
each area that I would be close in, he knows a lot of people on the island. I
think that is because of how small it is and also that he was on the police
force. He wants to become a private detective when he has had enough time off.
I think it was a grate was to meet some of the local police officers and have
them have some knowledge of who is Peace Corps, who lives on the island, and
who is a tourist. When we where done with that he showed me the St. George
medical college, its huge and nice. I can only imagine how expensive it must be
to go there and live in a dorm. I also
do to see where some of the biggest houses on the island are, its incredible how
big some f the houses are. Yesterday I got sun burned so I was really feeling
the heat today so we ended are trip a bit early. When we got back home the
power was off, I was sad because I realized that I forgot some of my cloths
with my family in St. Lucia and if I tell them fast enough I can have one of my
trainers bring it up with them when they come some time in the next few weeks. I
think the rest of my day is going to be lazy and music filled. I am still going
threw all of the music that Marvin gave me, and organizing it. It has been nice
having a little extra something to do while I am here.
