Day 1 In Grenada
My day started at 3am, I crawled out of bed and got dressed
all of the kids where still sleeping so I couldn’t say goodbye. We rushed out
the door because we didn’t want to be late so I couldn’t even say goodbye to
Roger but he ended up meeting me at the multi purpose center, I started crying.
We loaded my bags onto the buss and my host mom said goodbye to me. I think
that was one of the worst feelings that I had had in a long time. I was getting
so comfortable in St. Lucia I think that if I could pick one place so far to
move back to it will be St. Lucia. Any ways the St. Vincent and Grenada people
got on the buss to the airport, I think the worst part of the trip was getting
all of my luggage from place to place. I think that if I could change how I
packed I would. We had to switch Plaines in Barbados but I made it to Grenada
by 10:30am. I was greeted by the Grenada PC director he helped us get threw
customs. When we got outside there was a welcome EC 85 sign with all of the
current volunteers, they handed out snacks, water and hand made necklaces with
local spices. Then we all got on the bus and headed to the PC office where we
had more snacks and introductions. It was a lot to take in but it was an
amazing feeling to be finally in Grenada and getting started. At 12 my host
mother came to pick me up I was the first one to meet their host parents. We
headed up the windy roads and up to the top of a hill. They have a huge house
that over looks a good part of the island. My host father is a police officer
who is about to retire, my host mother runs a restaurant, and my host brother
is 24 and going to school to be an engineer.
I have a nice room with lots of closet space and my own bathroom. So far
I have not been able to Wi-Fi in the house but we will see. I slept most of the
day because I was so tiered from my trip. I had chicken roti for dinner with
lemonade. One of my two bags did not come yet from the airport so I didn’t have
all of my stuff, so I am hopping it comes tomorrow. Its been a long day and
