Day #28 Literacy

Today was a good day I was always entertained in training today but I did find out where some of my biggest weakness are. Today we started are literacy training going over all kinds of terms and ways that we can teach are class for are practicum. I discovered that I didn't know what what half of the terms where or how they worked. This is one of those things that just does not fin into my brain the way that it should. I have trouble with spelling, grammar and reading. I don't think that I even read up to the level that I am supposed to be at. It took a lot of work from my teachers and family to get to where I am today. So I am concerned about teaching literacy to young children that struggling already I don't want teach them something that is wrong. Although on a positive note if their is a child with any kind of disability I can relate to them and try to help them, show them the tricks that helped me learn when I was in school. I also hope that this helps me become stronger in my weakest areas. I did talk to my manager in Grenada about my problems with literacy and that I don't really want to teach that kinds of things but if I have to it will have to be laid out for me and spelled checked before I address the class. He understood and assured me that I am sill going to be a good asset for the school that I will be working in. Latter in the day we got together in are groups for are first teaching in the school that we started the other day. I think that it is going to be really fun and useful for the kids. It going to be about their support systems and accomplishments in life, how they got their and who helped them. Its going to be very interactive and hands on. Thats how I learn.
