Grenada Independence week 2014

Sunday I went to a boat race on Gran Ance Beach with some friends and we had a grate time. People come from all over the island to race boats, set up booths, eat food, drink and listen to music and they run into old friends. I had a grate time I got BBQ pork, garlic brad, and potato salad for lunch. I even got to meet some cool people from over seas that I talked to for a long time. I loved seeing the boats race.

Tuesday I went to White Cane and we worked on finishing some bottles that had the Grenada map and Grenada flag on them. We got four done, that was grate because they where going to be selling some bottles at the Made in Grenada convention Friday for independence day. I spent a long time woking with him to get everything nice and cleaned up. From White Cane I ran home and got changed to meet my dance teacher to go up to Gren Vill so I could work out with her. For a long time I was going up their where her brother teaches at the gym but I stopped because its such a long bus ride, I need to get back in the habit of it because its one of the best work outs I've ever gotten. When I work out their I am drenched by the first ten miners and in to morning I can feel every muscle in my body that I used. It was a grate workout.

Wednesday my school had what they call a tea fair. People come to the school and pay $10 to get a plate of local food and tea. Some of my favorites are Coco, lemon grass, and bay leaf. Its a good fundraiser for the school and the kids get to come with their families. I had to leave and go to White Cane to do the final last finishing touches on the bottles.

Thursday the kids at the school had sports so I did not teach but I got to see the kids play, and meet some of the other teachers from the Gren Vill Special ed school who came down to do sports as well that was interesting. Then latter that night I went to the count down for Grenada's 40th independence. Every one was exited, they built a stage in town and they called in local dancers, singers and people to make speeches. At midnight they set off fire works people had a grate time hanging out with friends, eating and dancing the night away.

Friday was independence day so we went to the national stadium. Inside was the Made in Grenada convention their was local rum, cloths, art and more. it was amazing to see al of the local law enforcement and military marching and saluting the flag as it went up and down. We also had local dance groups, singers and more come to perform. It was a good day except I got sun burned and now have a funny tan line.

Saturday I went to Hog Island with the hole group that was fun we hiked for like an hour and then we hung out at the beach munched on junk food and talked until night. We took a small boat back and headed home.

  1. I found your blog while looking for pictures of Dauphin beach, and have really enjoyed reading about your adventures. I love St. Lucia, especially the good people and their natural living there. I plan to live there one day, but hope to visit Grenada later this year. I look forward to learning more about your experiences.
