Day #1 or IST 2
Wow this year in Grenada has flown by for me!!! I think that I have grown as a person in several ways. I am more confident about myself, I am more assertive and feel like I have a better understanding of life itself. I feel amazing and I am so happy where I am today in my life and have made several new friends and I added two new families into my life St. Lucia host family and Grenada host family with friends.
Its that time agin where I have training, today we talked about all of the good and troubling things that are going on with are services, work sites and such. I only had positive things to say because now I am working at about three different sites the school, home for persons with disabilities and white Cane/GNCD. I feel like I am being used to my full potential and I am making a difference. Some of the other people are having trouble because either their site is not working with them or is not organized as a company, I think two people are going to be re assigned to new job sites. We also talked about the rest of are year and up coming year plan. Mine in details with high hopes to have completed my sea glass tree with handprints, added some stepping stones to the garden and many implement a dance after school program at my school. At White Cane and grenada national council of the disabled GNCD I am hoping to have a grant approved for are ceramics room complete with (clay, tools, kiln, foot wheel) also getting more bottles sold, and for the group home Dorothy Hopkins I am hoping to have a good set of projects lined up with them as I know I will.
After lunch witch was ordered in for us we had a session called unwanted attention that steph put together for the new trainees coming in to watch but she wanted to see what we thought at do a test run of her presentation training. Oh man it was grate funny but helpful. She showed a video clip from a comady show and it was exactly how the men are down here. Then we went over how to avoid those situations or ways to work with the. Advice if your going to be a peace corps volunteer, what is in your training session comes from past pvcs experiences and we do are best to make sure that you are prepared for what you are walking into. It might seem dramatic some times but we find as close of an example as we can. When we watched the video it was amazing how cheese it was but right on about what kinds of unwanted attention you WILL be receiving as a woman in the Caribbean. watch this :)
